TP-Link WiFi 6 Router AX1800 Smart WiFi Router (Archer AX20) – 802.11ax Router, Gigabit Router, Dual Band, OFDMA, Parental Controls, Long Range Coverage, Works with Alexa

    • Aside from this odd smart connect issue, no complaints really
    • I did not immediately think it was the Smart Connect because why would their own software slow everything down so much
    • and I thought that the Smart Connect feature offering to use one SSID and route all of the devices according to which channel and band were best for it would be simple when using different devices around the house.
    • At any rate, I fiddled with several things and finally turned off Smart Connect, which should be called dumb connect, and now the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz are separate and you have to sign in to each separately and select it yourself, but the speed is back up where it ought to be!
    • So go ahead and get this router - easy to set up, works well as long as you do NOT use the smart connect.
    • I disabled smart connect, then my laptop reconnected to 5ghz again
    • Make sure you disable smart connect
    • The Smart Connect feature that allows you to run the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks using the same SSID is a disaster.
    • Do NOT use or enable the Smart Connect option
    • The smart connect sometime don't switch the band quickly.

    • I did not immediately think it was the Smart Connect because why would their own software slow everything down so much
    • The smart-connect is great on the paper, for me it didn't work
    • I really like the convenience of Smart Connect to merge and manage both of my wifi bands, but I wish it would put my higher bandwidth items on the 5GHz band (and leave them there).
    • Aside from this odd smart connect issue, no complaints really
    • Seems buggy still, particularly the smart connect feature
    • Smart connect is useless
    • After a few days of everything behaving well, then I turned on Smart Connect to merge the two wifi bands to single SSID.
