    TP-Link Wireless N300 2T2R Access Point, 2.4Ghz 300Mbps, 802.11b/g/n, AP/Client/Bridge/Repeater, 2x 4dBi, Passive POE (TL-WA801ND)

    • After a couple of hours trying every combination as a simple access point wired into a switch (dynamic address, static IP address, DHCP service enabled or not, etc.), I gave up on the TL-WA801ND and returned it to Amazon.
    • then punch that IP into a browser).~~Log into your Router's config page:Find the DHCP Client list in your router (will list all the devices that have IP's assigned from the router).
    • First step for setting up your new AP is assign your computer/laptop to a static IP address
    • Now select the radio button "Use the following IP address" and enter in the IP(192.168.1.50), and Subnet mask(255.255.255.0), Gateway you can leave blank(gateway is not required right now)After getting your computer assigned a static IP:~~Configuring TP-Link
    • So the fact that it is preset to a static IP using "0" in the 3rd octet can cause a small delay in the setup process.
    • The only difference is the APs respective static IP and the channel they operate on
    • By default, it starts up with a static IP address
    • In case anyone's having the same problems, here's a few key settings that I used that finally got it work with a STABLE connection: 1)use a static IP for this router in the network settings, 2)disable the DHCP in this router
    • That address works until your router finds it and (because this access point's default more is DNS instread of static IP
    • Depending on your router, you can assign static IP's on your router via MAC Address and/or by device
    • If you put a static ip in the access point or wireless printer and then load your software the your systems will always know where they are at.
    • worked great excelent value for a great productthe ip address to access the settings is 192.168.0.254 upon initial powerup
    • Easier setup than I thought, comes with DHCP disable and is set to a static ip of 192.168.0.254.
    • TP-Link AP:After you assign the TP-Link a static IP from your router's DHCP IP Pool, reboot the TP-Link again.
    • with it's new static IP.~~Disable TP-Link AP DHCP Server Fucntion
    • Tried the smart dhcp and static selected ip and no difference
    • I followed the quick start guide connecting wirelessly until I changed the static IP to one compatible with my house - probably should have changed it to DHCP to make things even simpler; changed the passwords, enabled security, rebooted and re-connected and it was done.
    • :Now punch into your browser the AP's current DHCP static IP address, it should bring you into the TP-Link config page
    • Without going into great detail, I have tried about 5 methods to get this to work, including enabling/disabling DHCP, using a static IP or getting IP from DHCP, setting AP to same SSID/Config, latest firmware, hard resets, nothing works.
    • I also have an access point on each end that is set to 'static IP' and set to the 'bridge' setting
    • The one thing you should always do with a access point is give it a static ip address if you don't you could have problems
    • it was the same subnet as the router, but all you have to do to change the static ip is plug it directly into another computer or switch.
    • Found their IP addresses from my router and then accessed the "web" setup on each one to configure SSIDs (different for each one), Password and set static IP addresses.
    • Tried the smart dhcp and static selected ip and no difference
    • The firmware apparently changed between the time the manual was written and my batch went out, since the manual described a menu similar to the 701N, leading to much confusion as I messed with updating firmware to the latest, scouring the web, and ultimately wasted an hour on hold for support, only to have them read the manual to me
