Over time tough the metal at the base bent and broke

I turned the neck around a couple of times and it snapped (this is the stiff but bendable metal part, not the plastic parts)

When I pushed it back up it fell down again and the cheap metal wire that allows it to be flexible had become brittle at the base where it's bent most often and snapped in half

Internal core of the neck is a pretty weak metal, and will eventually break from fatigue apparently.

The best thing is it leaves you with plenty of room to work as it stands alone and do not need to worry about spilling food or drinks on your phone because you forgot to move your device out of the way

but I think this is actually a positive as it's very sturdy
