The crumb tray is polished metal and would quickly stain without protection

Happy my crumb tray will stay clean and not get any spills on it that will bake on and be hard to remove

My OCD is at bay, my crumb tray is spotless and DS can overload his toppings to his heart's content

They are OK....not sure how long they will last but do gelp keep the tray cleaner.
