We have nice entry grade audiophile type equipment (entry level Paradigm speakers, good Yamaha AV receiver/amp, good Gotham cabling).Much better preamp than my serviceable $50 phono

I'd say for $99 you get what you pay for: a solid entry level pre-amp that provides decent amplification for those using receivers without a phono input
