Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X Advanced Gigabit Ethernet Routers ER-X 256MB Storage 5 Gigabit RJ45 ports

    • This is an extremely solid option to use as a home, QA/test system or even a small-business router (assuming you have less than 40 devices). If you're using this as your WAN/Internet router, I would HIGHLY recommend disabling SSH from the WAN interface
    • Their only available option of support by email was a joke.
    • However, it is the perfect budget option for any and/all prosumers
    • Great router, great options
    • DNS - Looks like a very simple forwarder to me - no real options besides what interfaces to listen to and dyndns
    • Built in support for multiple VPN technologiesCons:- Many options not available in the GUI and have to be configured in the config tree and/or from the command
    • and I've seen many of the free or low-cost options (DD-WRT, Endian, Untangle, and PFsense to name a few) and this has become my hands-down favorite
    • Great configuration options and lots of flexibility
    • I don't think this router is a good option for people have have no idea what they are doing in a network environment, but if you have basic skills this isn't a hard router to setup and has a ton of great custom configurations
    • Perfect for small businesses that are looking for something more capable with powerful VPN options or the power home user
    • When you've outgrown the consumer junk, this may be a good option to consider.
    • I do a bit of freelance computer/IT work for individuals and businesses and have used their Unifi AP access points in the past, so when an opportunity to put a small business network together from scratch, the Edgerouter X looked like a great option and has proved the same
    • Anyway, highly recommended for those who know just enough about networking to get in trouble, and looking to add options or improve performance on a home or small office network
    • Their only available option of support by email was a joke.
    • Anyway, once you have the right option(s) selected then you can go back and insert it in to your network.
    • Full gigabit linux-based OS will root access, so you can configure for unsupported options, like making it function as a Pi-Hole, for almost the same price as a Pi, but with a LOT more functionality (like gigabit throughput!).
    • I appreciate the ease of setup designed into this router and its configuration software, I appreciate the capability and options I
