My favorite mechanical pencil is still a Pentel Twist-Erase III, like this Pentel Twist-Erase III Automatic Pencil with 2 Eraser Refills, 0.7mm, Assorted Barrels, 2 Pack (QE517BP2-K6)

I always use 2B leads as they are darker and smoother (They are also softer and more prone to break than HB)

It writes as sharp as a .05 and I haven't broken the lead yet!7 months later
