Uniden SX167-2CH 16 Mile FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radios with Convenient Charging Kit. NOAA Weather, 2-Pack - Black Color

    • It does not drain batteries as fast as some reviews suggested
    • We talk over a 2 mile distance and the cheap batteries last several days.
    • The only thing is they will drain the battery very quickly if left on (which happens sometimes here)
    • The only problem I have is I cannot afford to use them as it gets incredibly expensive changing six batteries, (3 per unit
    • so I'm not sure how bad the batteries were or if it was just due to the high use.
    • keep batteries handy, goes through them in about 3-4 hrs on stand-by
    • Battery was pretty bad
    • The batteries do die quickly (but I blame my son and husband) for not turning them off!
    • Hopefully pputting in better batteries will make them last longer.
    • Poor battery life
    • They are very durable, but you must make sure they are turned off while not in use or they will drain the batteries.
    • That disclaimer aside, the Uniden battery operated walkie talkies work fantastically for our kids.
    • With fresh batteries we were back in business
    • The batteries also drain very fast - and unevenly.
    • The sound quality is ok when the batteries are fresh and starts to go down over time.
    • Pro: able to talk clearly about 3/4 mile away on fresh batteries.
    • Even if you power it down, with little to no talk, the batteries are dead after one day
    • Quality build, good battery life and decent distance
    • You can not keep them on for more than 3 hours as the battery will be dead after that.
    • However, they were not designed for children who forget to turn things off, so the batteries are always dead
    • I will strongly suggest you buy good Duracell Extreme batteries the batteries that came with these radios were dead in a matter of hours
    • My only downfall is the batteries it came with
    • they worked perfectly..even thoughthe batteries that came
    • Works well - batteries don't die out very quickly.
    • I will strongly suggest you buy good Duracell Extreme batteries the batteries that came with these radios were dead in a matter of hours
    • For what I needed them for I should've have spent a little more money for ones that wouldn't drain batteries so fast.
    • Love these radios you need to make sure you buy a better quality batteries or rechargeable or it will go through batteries fast
    • but like others have said - atrocious battery usage!
    • Great battery life
    • I am not sure why the batteries are drained so quickly for 3 triple A's
    • Definitely recommended if you want something relatively cheap yet reliable!-good range-multiple channels (we have found interference fairly often, but it's easily avoided by switching)-simple control and decent battery lifeWe just use them around the house and neighborhood, but they seem to transmit and receive even after one person has walked away for about 15 minutes (maybe a half mile?)
    • When they work they are great but the battery gets run down very quickly so we can hardly use them.
    • By later afternoon the batteries that came with them were drained
    • The batteries drain quickly if you forget to turn them off.
    • The walkie-talkie works OK, but it drains the battery after one day (6 hours) of use.
    • Unable to test if radios work as batteries that came with it were dead on arrival.
    • Also drains batteries pretty fast, so bring a nice pile of AAAs.
    • Returned items - drained batteries every day, too expensive to use.
    • Really upset that I wasnt able to use it further as it says 16 mile radius!Battery DRAINS in these things, I would recommend a recharable battery
    • I have not experienced the battery drain that most people are complaining about.
    • They work great, but can't afford the batteries
    • Reasonable battery life, range is overstated but adequate.
    • Recharble batteries would be nice as I notice the replaceable ones didn't last very long
    • The range and clarity are good but these things suck down batteries like they are going out of style
    • NO CHARGER, BATTERY ONLY, TOO EXPENSIVE
    • These radios seemed to drain the batteries within a couple of hours of light use, which is faster than I would expect.
    • Battery's lasted fine and prefer replaceable over internal recharging for the long term.
    • Also drains batteries pretty fast, so bring a nice pile of AAAs.
    • but we've only needed them for short periods of time so the battery is good for us
    • Able to talk over about 3/4 mile away on fresh batteries.
    • Good reception and battery stays long
    • but I have one that just kills the batteries
    • These radios quickly kill batteries, so always have extra batteries.
    • Kills batteries with the quickness
    • Battery died after two days and only a few hours turned on each day
    • They work well, but I wish the batteries were easier to get to
    • I am not sure if she always remembered to turn them off, but even if she hadn't, that is a crazy short battery life
    • The battery ran out really quick but it works great
    • Under heavy use we only got 30 minutes on a set of fresh batteries.
    • The biggest complain is battery
    • Work well, but they eat batteries like crazy.
    • And the battery drains pretty quickly.
    • Yes, when they're right near each other but unless you're in a completely barren area that's super flat, or maybe in space, then these won't work as you expect
