It does not drain batteries as fast as some reviews suggested

We talk over a 2 mile distance and the cheap batteries last several days.

The only thing is they will drain the battery very quickly if left on (which happens sometimes here)

The only problem I have is I cannot afford to use them as it gets incredibly expensive changing six batteries, (3 per unit

so I'm not sure how bad the batteries were or if it was just due to the high use.

keep batteries handy, goes through them in about 3-4 hrs on stand-by

Battery was pretty bad

The batteries do die quickly (but I blame my son and husband) for not turning them off!

Hopefully pputting in better batteries will make them last longer.

They are very durable, but you must make sure they are turned off while not in use or they will drain the batteries.

That disclaimer aside, the Uniden battery operated walkie talkies work fantastically for our kids.

For what I needed them for I should've have spent a little more money for ones that wouldn't drain batteries so fast.

Love these radios you need to make sure you buy a better quality batteries or rechargeable or it will go through batteries fast

but like others have said - atrocious battery usage!

Great battery life

I am not sure why the batteries are drained so quickly for 3 triple A's

Definitely recommended if you want something relatively cheap yet reliable!-good range-multiple channels (we have found interference fairly often, but it's easily avoided by switching)-simple control and decent battery lifeWe just use them around the house and neighborhood, but they seem to transmit and receive even after one person has walked away for about 15 minutes (maybe a half mile?)
