With the cable, and some readily available software, programming the scanner was a breeze

It did not come with a driver, so I searched the 'net for an appropriate driver, loaded it, and after that, and also after installing appropriate software (I chose Freescan), I installed it without any problems whatsoever (Freescan even auto-searches for an open COM port).Does it work?

This got me up and running with the FreeScan software (and yes it's free software).

Works great with the uniden BCD 396 XTScanner plug it in on windows pc computer download the driver works great a windows 7 then you can use it with the uniden scanner software very easy to use
