I'm using at about 30% at about a 2 foot distance and it picks up my voice quite well without getting too much background noise

Because it is not "omni" it is excellent at ignoring background noise - like an a/c, fan, television, someone in anther room or outdoors.

I guess it'd probably be fine for gaming or classes where "background" noise isn't as much of an issue, but it's unusable for recording videos or music meant for putting out publicly.

I was so taken aback after hearing such good things about the yeti, but they both pickup the same background noises, and feel very similar.

Mic had static and picked up excess background noise when the volume was around 30% gets worse when you turn it up.

Works great, you have to be a little close to it, but it cuts out background noise well, and is very clear

The voice is very clear and there is barely any static background noise.

But this is easily solved especially if you don't have any background noise problems!

Although I've kept this microphone for certain uses, I would recommend looking at a different model or vendor that has multi-condenser and a selective field configuration if you have any background noise you want to cut out.

I would say my only gripe with it is how relatively easy it is to pick up background noises compared to other mics I have tried in the past, but overall I think this was a solid purchase and certainly better in longevity than even some of the professional mics out there.
