It does make some noise when it first gets going which sounded a little iffy, but everything works great!

Initially, despite the incredibly loud noises it made when ripping CDs or playing DVDs, I thought "well, at least it works", except even that feeling was short lived

Also when you insert a cd it makes a super loud noise as if its damaging the cd.

When ever i connect the disk drive to my mac book air the drive want eject the disk when i prompted too it makes the noise like it going

Had the same experience as some others above--I put in a DVD-R, and it made a bunch of awful noises and then ejected the disc
