However, I find that it does not evenly grind the beans

The blade revolves to about 1/8th of an inch from the side wall, so grind for about 5 to 10 seconds, stop and remove the cover, check the consistency and push any partly-ground beans back toward the center with the included brush, replace the cover, grind for a few more seconds, check again.

Although this grinder is not designed to make espresso grinds, it's possible to make it after you filter out the coarse grinds and re grinding the beans
