• Reviews around speed (4.10 of 5)

    WD 4TB 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache, 3.5-Inch Desktop Hard Disk Drive (WD4003FZEX)

    • It is probably speed overkill for what I'm doing, but I like having the speed and security.
    • Phenomenal speed increase over WD Green disk it replaced, but...1) Significantly noisier than the WD Green
    • I use these in my Drobo 5D. Great transfer speeds and very reliable
    • It measures at impressive speeds -- considerably faster than the 2TB WB Black drive it was intended to replace.
    • I pair this drive with a Hitachi, which acts as a daily clone, so speed is a non-issue for that drive
    • the speed of read and write is very fast
    • At 7200RPM, you're not going to get SSD speeds, but you will notice slightly better speeds compared to 5400RPM drives (so much so that in most multiplayer games, I load in to the game well in advance of my friends on 5400RPM drives, which is great in games like Red Orchestra or Insurgency where it's first come first serve for a limited number of classes)
    • This WD hard drive has a list of great features, speed and storage capacity (not to mention the WD reputation) for all my needs
    • Phenomenal speed increase over WD Green disk it replaced, but...1) Significantly noisier than the WD Green
    • Working great and good speeds in the week that I have had it.
    • and it would be faster, but the speed at which this HDD operates has always been perfectly acceptable
    • It's top speed under ideal conditions is only slightly higher than SATA 2 bandwidth.
    • Though I'd definitely say it's worth it if your as impatient with slow technology as I am.-The speed of the drive is impressive
