Software not intuitive

I don't have time to completely lose all the software, then reload the software from WD online to both partitions.

Bottom line is that I like both the hardware and software

The only problem and the MAJOR floor in the hard drive is the software

The back-up software has been refined even though Smartware was very good.

Hardware itself is pretty good but the WD and Acronis software is useless junk and the upgrade option is fake since the WD Edition of Acronis has no serial number.

The internal software is garbage, just delete it.

The manual isn't the easiest to read, maybe because its trying to describe un-intuitive software.

This hard drive is very fast, reliable and comes with great backup software.

It works quietly, and i like it, but i didn't like the proprietary software that it did not recognize my old external drive.

Apple's newer software updates like Capitan make it so that you must either reformat the hard drive or download third party software to use the external hard drive

Fortunately, I found free software online that allowed me to use this hard drive with no problems

Included software did not support Linux

The included backup software was too limiting for my taste.

You simply have to figure out where to find and download the appropriate software from the internet, and there are NO instructions on how to do this

A call to WD support resulted in my downloading the current software from their site and rebooting my computer.

Western Digital's own software had difficulty communicating with and recognizing the drive, failed to run diagnostics, and failed to format the drive.

I bought the six T which is supposed to hold my life's worth of pics and

it continues to work as it should.

So far there are no problems and it works as it should

A technician recommended me to use an external hard drive as a back up, just in case I could lose the data, and it is doing a great job.

4TB has left me with no concern over storage space so I can greedily download all of the Games with Gold titles each month as well as have every purchased game in my collection on the hard drive with tons of extra space.

I wanted to post this to help others who may have encountered the sleep/wake problem with this device as well as those that may be contemplating buying this and should be aware of the issue up front.
