    WD Blue 500GB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD5000AAKX

    • Ranked as the mid performance hard drive in the Caviar family (Green, Blue, Black,), this hard drive does a good job providing good value performance and hard disk storage
    • I decided that I wanted to upgrade a Dell Dimension C521 and the HDD(Hard Disk Drive) was my first approach
    • It's worth its price for its large storage capacity, even though it's not a Tera Byte Size Hard Disk Drive, for a home user such as I, it's more than enough for OS and Storage needs until I could afford to upgrade to a Solid State Drive.

    • I am running Raid 5 configuration and somehow allowed multiple disks to develop unrecoverable errors

    • I bought the 500 GB hard disk to replace the corrupted original disk in my Sony Vaio desktop from 2004
    • This is the first time encountering a disk contaminating bug which could not be cleaned up
    • It was not secured with bubble wrap or any other packing material, there was plenty of room in the box for the hard disk to move around quite a bit in transit.

    • During this time, the disk encountered several write zero errors indicating that the sector is bad.
