WD VelociRaptor 500 GB Workstation Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 10000 RPM, SATA III, 64 MB Cache - WD5000HHTZ

    • My current opinion is that Solid State is the only way to go.
    • Also if you are experimental, it makes a great "fusion" drive paired with a Solid State Drive (OS X).
    • 6/2016 replaced with Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD (solid state drive) 1TB
    • Solid State
    • However solid stated is so cheap and exponentially higher benchmark get a 120gb solid state and call it a day
    • It's still quiet, and aside from solid state drives, I've never used a better one for gaming.
    • I use WD Velociraptors for all my games and demanding programs, and keep my single solid state drive for boot
    • Can't beat this drive unless you get a solid state drive (but they are pretty expensive for 1 TB
    • The speed of these drives rivals the solid-state drives, but gives you many more reliable read-write cycles at a lower cost
    • This doesn't occur often in RAM, hard drive buffers, CPU core buffers, or any of the many other applications where memory is used in other than solid state hard drives
    • This doesn't occur often in RAM, hard drive buffers, CPU core buffers, or any of the many other applications where memory is used in other than solid state hard drives
    • It's not Solid State fast, but it's the fastest your going to get otherwise
    • Moving to solid state...
    • you can increase the performance of your hard drive with a small 64gb solid state drive
    • As fast or faster than the solid state drive I tried.
    • I haven't done any official tests but it seemed to be visibly faster than my solid state drive that I replaced with this
    • Solid State Drive - CSSD-F90GBGT-
    • You want the best non Solid State drive for your gaming rig, this is the only choice
    • This really surprised me as this comparison is between a solid state device and one that is turning 10,000 RPM
    • It is slower than my solid state drive, but for all practical purposes, I find that difference negligible
    • The high intensity write-rewrite is still more favorable to magnetic over solid state drives at this point in time
    • I'm remembering that in one of my courses where we were studying doping silicon with gallium to create crystalline structure for solid state devices, that after extensive use, especially at elevated temperature, the structure would denigrate
    • It's really good investment when compared to Solid State Drives available today.
    • This will I presume change with the continued work on the solid state crystals for hard drives thus resulting in lower MTBF and price for SSD's.
    • n’t be misleading.
    • works as it is supposed to
    • This hard drive is super fast not as a
    • Even for non gamers, I don't think I have ever seen any Office product open as fast as with this drive
    • A bit of noise ramping up, but not as bad as
    • n’t be misleading.
