So far, MUCH improved performance with this antenna and it doesn't seem anywhere near as fragile as the OEM antenna it replaces.

Wilson recommends 3" or so for this antenna, but I'd say you want at least 6" on metal around it for best performance.

For the price I paid, this product gives a good performance!

If you fail to put this on some large piece of metal (like a filing cabinet), expect poor performance.

Maybe with an entire car's rooftop as a ground plane the performance is improved but with my steel pie plate, not so good.
