Most 35mm slides slide through the holder but every once in a while a slide gets crooked and requires the holder being pulled out to straighten the slide
-
Very time consuming, and the holder was very difficult to open
-
Scanning negatives is also very easy: you just use the appropriate holder and then slowly push the negative inside, center it, and scan it
-
The Epson has a horrible film holder but there are hacks that can fix this.
-
The scanner sets up easily and the slide/negative holders work just fine
-
Some pictures on Amazon and Youtube show multi-slide/negative holders which would make the process a little more streamlined but still the idea of a "standalone" scanner that can be used without a big enough lcd screen to see/preview your pictures is ridiculous.
-
The "frame" around the negative holder does cut off a tiny amount of the picture all around, so in some cases you have to move the negative left or right (cannot move up or down) to get the best/desired content.
-
The unit is well made but the negative holders seem flimsy
-
For microfilm, the sleeve for 35mm slides will work, no problem as a holder.

The holder is light plastic and did break, but th manufacturer replaced it for free!
