The FC3A pedal is used by Yamaha keyboards which support a "half damper" facility -- this is a feature used on keyboards like the S series and the Motif X to simulate a more realistic piano damper

my NP-31 (which did say it suppors half-pedal functionality), as well as in my DAW when using it as a MIDI controller, and I saw no difference
