Reviews around performance layer (5.00 of 5)

  • When I consider how good most all of the other sounds are and how important string sounds are to so many musicians I am dumbfounded as to why Yamaha let these samples be used.
  • Easy to edit voices (part parameters), then create performances (layering)
  • When I consider how good most all of the other sounds are and how important string sounds are to so many musicians I am dumbfounded as to why Yamaha let these samples be used.
  • The choir sounds are only so-so but those are my only complaints and the upside of all the good sounds still makes it a no-brainer great buy IMO...particularly good EPs, basses, good synth sounds with surprisingly good Moog sounds.

Reviews around channel (5.00 of 5)

  • that I haven't seen in other reviews is that the string sounds (only the orchestral strings, not the synth strings) have a lot of noise in the upper two octaves particularly on the right channel of the stereo sample.

Reviews around quality (4.03 of 5)

  • I plug the midi cable in the back and this thing gives me a great quality piano, upright bass, jazz guitar, good acoustic drums and a decent rhodes and vibes
  • I've barely started to tap into everything it's capable of, but to my pleasant surprise, just the quality of the electric guitar sounds, and bass guitar sounds - are unbelievable
  • Totally realistic, with countless nuances adding quality to my recordings, including fret buzzes and feedback (if one so chooses)
  • The choir sounds are only so-so but those are my only complaints and the upside of all the good sounds still makes it a no-brainer great buy IMO...particularly good EPs, basses, good synth sounds with surprisingly good Moog sounds.

Reviews around voice (3.61 of 5)

  • SoundsI have an old 88 key weighted keyboard and all I really needed was a module with some better voices for classical and jazz playing
  • still, 20 or so great voices are plenty for me now that I have found them
  • It's a lot simpler to use than my old Roland keyboard, and the voices are more satisfactory
  • If I have any complaints, it's the fact that the mx49 has a number of bells and whistles (not to mention some weird voices
