    Yubico YubiKey 4 - USB-A, Two-Factor Authentication

    • Honestly using this as a PIV smart-card really opens up the doors on what this can do as far as security, and with free utilities like VeraCrypt, not utilizing PIV features like certificate and token storage is just making this go to waste
    • Setting it up to work as a PIV smart card is a pain, simply due to Certificate Authority issues with EFS/Bitlocker; however, easily remedied using command-line instead of their PIV Manager GUI.Zero problems with U2F.

    • Keep in mind that the PIV CCID Smart Card this product offers is read-only to Windows 7/8/10 out of the box, however there is a tool called CSIS Enrollment Station which will let you provision Smart Cards.

    • With a little bit of work, the yubikey 4 can be used as a gpg smart card for signing things, which is great for signing tags in git; if you're willing to jump through some hoops, it can also be used in place of traditional SSH keys.
