At the first the pen was scratchy and pretty hard to flex, but after about five or six 15 minute sessions of writing things down, it has loosened up a bit and I find the flexing of the tines to be easier

Ok if you are looking for a cheap flex pen alternative & don't mind a lot of feedback from the pen on the paper.

I find myself reaching for anymore (apart from specialized blunt nibs) is my blue pumpkin nib when a softer flex is required

These are probably too pointy for much writing use, but for dawing they are fantastic with easy flex to vary line weight.
