It seems as though Zoom has really focused on improving the sound quality with this release - it records very clean sound, especially with an external mic connected via an XLR cable

Other recorders have a wheel style gain which is much easier to use without introducing unwanted sounds

The XLR have very low noise and the external mics pict up clear crisp sound.

The built in mics are fine sounding, but use the foam cover to stop "pops" from plosives when working close to the mics for that personal one-to-one sound that makes podcasts and voice work much better

The sound itself is very clear, sometimes so clear that I have to perform multiple takes just to get a more subtle sound.

While the device records excellent sound, it has some very annoying quirks, like being unable to format large capacity SD cards, getting stuck when turning off, so you can only turn it off by replacing the batteries, and the fact that it sucks through two double A batteries every 3-4 hours.

The battery cover tab/lock broke off, but that hasn't harmed my opinion of it's wonderful sound recording abilities at all.

I've been pretty impressed with the capability of this recorder, and the sound is excellent.

I have hooked up 2 mics to it and recorded an interview and the sound is amazing

The built in condensers get some really nice sound, and the external jacks allow me to use any mic I want to use, or record any stereo sound with the 1/4" inputs

Goodbye sound problems

(Many DSLR videographers are using the H4n for this purpose because the onboard sound of a DSLR isn't the best.

Handling noise is a problem but there are solutions out there for mounting onto DSLRs for amazing sound.

easy to use... but not so good sound as i was expecting ...to have good sound you will need to work with others softwares as cubase witch come with product ....

This is my everyday carry-on when I travel abroad and the TSA agents seem to love the sound in spite of their suspicion about the shotgun mikes.

The problem is that a loud popping/spike sound is added to the end of file STE 001A where the file has been divided.

This thing is well worth the money it has 2 built in mics that are very sensitive (in a good way) and clean sounding, aIt also has a headphone jack port in the back to plug in lower end shotgun mics if you don't have an adapter for the main bottom ports

Both can slow the recording down by 50%; both are usable but the sound of the Tascam DR-100 is somewhat better when slowed down, but both are compromised.

I'm a Sound Design student at Savannah College of Art and Design, most of my Sound Professors have said that carrying around a portable recorder is a great way to getting in the habit of recording, and getting great sounds

It has an exellent sound quality and is very easy to use

If you want to film Features, Shorts, Documentaries, interviews, etc. capturing great sound for your project and you are a one-man-crew or you can count on friend-help to boom for you

Mono, a bit noisy and perhaps a little too close to the piano to capture a clean sound

When hooked up to a lav mic and utilizing the built-in speakers and 4-ch audio function you can get amazing sound with plenty of extra tracks if needed
