Zoom ZH1N Handy Portable Wireless Digital Audio Recorder w/Built in Microphone

    • Just be careful that it does pick up excessive hand movement when recording; it's really sensitive.
    • You can pull the H1 out of its packaging and start recording great quality audio in less than one minute
    • Me and a friend use these for a weekly Podcast (BS and a Beer, you can find it on iTunes) and they have been great recording tools.
    • I have used other more advanced portable recording devices and find that this is right on par with them
    • Decent recording - Terrible Design
    • This is a very nice and cost efficient recorded.
    • But if your desire is to basically get a reasonable good recording with pretty good fidelity, then the H1 is going to get the job done with little fuss.
    • It is possible that with live music or something else with good volume you’d get a good recording volume for an editing program, using the manual vol
    • This this is really nice and has great recording quality with its two condenser mics
    • Design:simple to the point of annoying lol, the buttons are recessed and hard to get at, the power switch is via a HOLD type layout which is not great for speedy recording when you just want to grab it and record immediately
    • I fear it appears like some loose contact or faulty recording switch?5
    • Small, light with great audio recording qualities (of course not as good as the H4N and higher tiered products)
    • The one he was using was a new H4 series, more than I needed, but the Zoom H1 recorder offered just what I wanted: quality stereo microphones with adjustable recording levels, stereo inputs for other microphones, a jack for listening, good battery life, micro-SD memory slot, and a 1/4-20 mount for a tripod or other stand
    • The big problem is, the system quality is also flimsy.1- The unit no longer reliably records, even after starting a file normally.2- Cards that were successfully formatted in the device suddenly become unrecognizable.3- The interface freezes and the battery must be pulled out to power down
    • I received the Zoom H1 Handy Portable Digital Record 10/29/2015, and I've used it about three times between then and today, 01/13/2016.
    • Excellent sound recording ability, simple to use, can save in a variety of formats and quality levels, compact
    • However, once you start recording it is wise to avoid contact with the recorder or you will end up with the static also recorded
    • control, yielded a pretty good recording volume, and quality voice, for digital editing work
    • The live recording, not so good, but it was my fault
    • I had trouble with the mic cutting in and out while recording
    • It has stereo sound, which will record into left and right channels, which is great for recording interviews or background noise
    • I bought this to use for talking head videos with a lavalier mic because the recording preamp in the my Canon Vixia camcorder did not make good enough recording
    • For guitar, piano, vocals, recording bands, bluegrass jams, etc, it seems to sound as nice as the H2 did, without the complex interface
    • It is so much better, and now I can buy a boom mic and plug it into this for even better recording
    • I use the Zoom H1 primarily for recording interviews with media subjects at conventions, and more often than not these interviews take place in a less than optimal recording situation, such as a crowded convention hall with a lot of peripheral background noise, or in a meeting room adjacent to other meeting rooms where other (loud) conversations are taking place
    • 2- excellent recording quality with line in and way above average with the internal mics, 3) easy to use controls for non-menu driven flexibility
    • It works fine and records well, but don't leave the battery in it if you are not using it.
    • My only complaint is that in a loud live recording situation you've got to use the manual volume setting and set it pretty low (like 12 out of 100)
    • I got this so that I wouldn't have to suffer through the terrible recording I do on my phone
    • Excellent quality recording
    • Wonderful "entry level" recording device.
    • I am not very experienced with this type of hand held recorder, (read I've used one, and only for three days,) but the recording sounds very good, and it is easy enough for me to use
    • It's a great recording device
    • Super clear recording, easy to understand navigation
    • It is weird, the first part of the shoot was fine, and when I moved the scene indoors, the next 3 recording were all messed up
    • Great recording tool
    • Very good record quality
    • It does a good job recording through it's stereo condenser mics as well
    • two perfectly matched microphones and outstanding recording quality
    • perfect sound and recording
    • H1 is versatile, mic, record, pass thru, camera, hand held, etc
    • awesome records at very clean quality i love this 4 recording voice and my guitar
    • Very handy, accurate recording.
    • But with the H2, near-professional audio quality was suddenly a practical reality, easily in reach of the musician or fan looking for a quick, handy, compact, intuitive recording device
    • This thing has great recording quality.... when you're close to it.
    • otherwise I recommend recording in Wav
    • , I think that's 10-24 in bolt sizes if you want to make your own grip deal), or stick some adhesive foam on it where you hold it (while leaving the buttons exposed, of course). This is a great item - I'll be using it for recording bird calls and sampling ambient noise for music.
    • Use a wind screen for best recording.
    • and it died mid recording never to be starting again no matter what troubleshooting
    • Easy to use with good clear sound and a huge bang for your buck, this H1 might be your best option for portable recording
    • I use it for my professional shoots, as well as recording my thoughts and ideas while driving hours to and from remote clients
    • With the H1 mounted to the boom pole with it's 1/4"x20 female mount point, it serves as a super-clean recording device to capture what my Rode VideoMic picks up.
    • Learn these handful of simple tips and you can do a ton of easy, fast, highly mobile recording for under $100
    • Excellent recording quality, with standard integrated mikes or with remote.
    • I used this to record band practice so that we don't lose those gems that sometimes come from nowhere and are forgotten immediately
    • The recording come out crisp and clear
    • Not as many whistles and bells as the H2 or H4, but has great recording ability.
    • , the unit functions well, crystal clear recording and great playback
    • Looks like zoom is continuing to put out a great recording product and not addressing the defective battery drainage issue
    • Also, I bought this because it can double as a USB microphone for the computer, but I gave up on that because it's hard to put it in a good recording position on the desk
    • Lots of versatility in the recording options, and AMAZING dual microphones for just a compact recording device
    • It is not possible to get a decent recording through input
    • The quality of the mic is really amazing, and the cross configuration of the two microphones make for great stereo recording
    • I really enjoy recording with it
    • Decent recording - Terrible Design
    • Good quality recording
    • It's a great recording product if you think cell phones have good sound quality
    • Does its work as you want and crisp and clear recording
    • OK, the recorder functions as you would like - clean recording, very directional- perfect for narration or voice over work.
    • Just record, fumble through the tracks one by one via forward or backwards through them all
    • I've read review after review touting it as a terrific recording system with tremendously good quality.
    • Very simple and easy to operate, record and move files to my PC.
    • well, recording audio and dropping that on top of video.
    • Brilliant little recording device!I was planning on getting this as a "hold me over until I get another recorder" device, but as it turns out, it's my main podcast recorder
    • With these issues addressed, the bottom line is the wonderful Zoom recording quality for a great price, with user friendly controls that can be learned in under 10 minutes
    • This thing has great recording qualityNegatives:
    • Recording in wave format with a good size card gives you several hours of good quality stereo recording.
    • The recording is very clear and it doesn't sound like you were recording in a box, like some other recorders do
    • For example, when recording the output from a CD player, the input sounds very distorted, even though the input level is at 1 - and there are barely any levels on the meter.
    • The sound quality it records is great for an amateur filmmaker or videographer, and although it's a little small and lightweight this makes it ideal for keeping with you and maybe recording random foley
    • It is very susceptible to your hand moving around on the body while recording, I found this a issue to get used to when starting to use it as a handheld interview mic.
    • lav mic for an alternative option for portable recording.
    • light weight, good recording quality, fast shipping
    • The only problem with the device is its hard plastic body, where every, I mean EVERY handling noise will be recorded also together with the sounds you were hunting for
    • great product - records with high sound quality and possesses an easy to understand interface.
    • You do need to be in a closer range for proper recording or it will sound like you are far away
    • The sound quality is much better than less expensive sound recording devices because of the special microphones it has.
    • DR-05 (Version 2), however, offers much more functionality within its menus than the Zoom, like a chromatic tuner, overdubbing, quick functions like splitting a track on the fly while recording, and a much more solidly built unit (for the same price)
    • occasionally for recording my daughters in song.)To have the single prominent record button front and center -- and alone -- is a selling point
    • but already I have one result that is the best recording of myself singing to date
    • Speaker is good enough for referencing the audio file but not good for referencing ideal recording settings
    • However, if I play back through the built-in reference microphone the recording is barely audible even if I set the volume to max
    • Pros:- Microphones are clear with a wide field and well-separated between L/R- Easy to set up - not too many things to
