After my first attempt failed, I called 3M to verify what went wrong
After my first attempt failed, I called 3M to verify what went wrong
I then applied the wipes that comes in this "3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat" kit to seal the surface and prevent (I hope
I followed the polish up with an application of the "3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat" (which you buy separately) to seal the surface and prevent (I hope) future yellowing of the light covers
I couldn't imagine not having the 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat wipes to seal and polish them once I was finished restoring the lenses
The 3M clear coat did an amazing job of restoring my headlights to a "like-new" condition.
If the product does a poor job preventing the return of the yellow remains to be seen, but for a more affordable quick clean when compared to a 'professional' doing the work for around $150, then I think this is a really great option
If I had used the product on BOTH aged headlights, my review might be higher, but the end assessment is that it does a good, but not fantastic job.
It did a amazing job on my headlight and would recommend it to anyone with glazed overhead lights.
All-in-all, for an all-in-one type kit, it did a good job
I tried for years to get the yellow headlights clear again with mediocre results using compound, plastic restoration gel and a host of other so called headlight restoration solutions
This product is so awesome easy to use with great results
Just follow the instructions and the results will be good.
Used this along with the 3m restoration kit and got amazing results!
I used these clear coat wipes after restoring with the 3M kit 39008 except I omitted polishing with the orange disc
the 3k Trizact wet sanding pad then hit it with the clear coat wipes
The 3m quick headlight clear coat wipe is perfect for the last step in headlight restoration OR protecting new headlights if your vehicle is parked outside
The wipes work well after using their 3m headlight restoration kit.
So I could use just the clear protective wipe and not sand
I used it on a set of headlamps from a 2005 car and the lenses are clear again
These wipes are an actual replacement for the factory clear coat that protects the plastic lenses
This 3M headlight clear coat may be all you need to improve clarity and protect you plastic lenses from UV rays.
It did an okay job and the lenses were very clear but not as clear as this kit made them
but I don't keep protective gloves at home for situations like this, so it tells you to not get it on your skin, yet doesn't give you anything in the kit to prevent this.1 three inch disk of 3000 grit sandpaper just isn't enough for moderately hazy lenses, just isn't most kits will include multiple disks ranging from 400-3000 but price is the selling point for this product, I can't fault it for that
Quick Headlight Clear Coat kit works, but its not a miracle product
Quick Headlight Clear Coat kit works, but its not a miracle product
the only thing that is missed in this kit compared to other expensive kits is a chemical you would use to sand out the haze or roughness from your headlight
kit is probably perfect for a car with single headlights
While this 3M kit removes the haze and oxidation from the surface, it does very little to nothing to prevent the oxidation process from starting all over again on the renewed surface
