I asked Amazon and the seller to simply send me another product, assuming it was a defected unit, but they instead only refunded my money.

If you want to risk getting a defective unit, at least do it through someone else who won't try to bait and switch you, like Amazon does.

But the real surprise here for me was that Amazon is apparently accepting used/returned monitors and reselling them as "new" even though they KNOW that the units are defective

I wanted to give 1 star for such poor quality control and unit being so overpriced

I think the price sucks, 2. unit had problems
