AKG K702 Reference Class Studio Headphones

    • They are made for music and it's what they deliver PURE MUSIC
    • Really good music/gaming headphones
    • The sound that escapes from the other side of the headphones is a lot less than I thought it would be, and probably wouldn't be as big of a deal in public as you might think unless you're somewhere really quiet like a library or you listen to your music super loud
    • For anyone wanting accurate music reproduction and natural, effortless sound, you can't go wrong with these.
    • I can live in these and enjoy my music all day long.
    • An example of more modern music, utilizing this echo quality, is Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction
    • You can really appreciate how clear they are when listening to Jazz, Classical, instrumental tracks and music with lots of vocals
    • Either way, my point is that the lighter bass is not a problem for me even though I like bass-heavy music
    • the continuous press on my head with loud music can get unbearable.
    • I had been getting distortion from some mp3 using the old Pioneers but the music comes through crystal clear and clean with the AKG's
    • Any music that depends on exaggerated or high bass will feel lacking with these headphones
    • Not much bass on the k702's but still music sounded amazing for me
    • just not overwhelming bass (like the Dre's) but enough to enjoy the music the way its supposed to be heard and distortion free
    • NOT suitable for portable music players.
    • One clear advantage of the treble is that music with an echo quality to it sounds simply amazing; these headphones mimic the sound of the acoustics in an orchestra hall, and are therefore ideal for classical music
    • If you listen to modern music on these you will hear the distortion and it will hurt your ears.
    • If you enjoy music like Nora Jones, or anything where you want to really hear the vocals and understand what the artist is saying, these are fantastic.
    • These K702s create an uncanny experience where it sounds like the music is coming from another audio source in the room a few feet away from you
    • For $500, your music would sound like $15 to $20K; great way to start out at an affordable price
    • But I found I could still blank it out and enjoy the music
    • If the recording is flawed, you'll hear it, but in well-done music you will be treated to a precise, open soundstage that will remind you of why you love music in the first place
    • With these headphones you will hear what the music REALLY sounds like from the source with minimal enhancement or coloration.
    • Granted this pair of headphones is not suited to all music genres coming across as thin and neutral for heavy metal or most loud bass heavy music, however it comes to a class of its own when most of one's repertoire is Jazz Vocals and Accoustic instrumentals (Guitar, Flute, Cello).
    • I divide my time 50-50 between home listening and attending major concerts/operas in Los Angeles and Orange County, so I think I am well qualified to judge audiophile hi-fi gear at least in so far as acoustic music is concerned
    • If you want to hate the recordings of most modern music, and hear what the masters made years ago, these are great.
    • The only down-side might be their lack of sensitivity; it does take more "juice" to drive these headphones which would not make them a good choice for portable music players.
    • My daughter moving back home and working shifts for the NHS, meant that I needed a good set of 'phones if I was to continue enjoying my music with a clear conscience
    • Ear cushions are extremely comfortable and great music quality.
    • (version 1) for $200 msrp or $140 on amazon atm, i must say the extra $100 is MORE than worth it, these are beautiful for all music in my opinion, the may not scale perfectly with electronic music or other more popular music without sound stage and a lot of instruments, but they're only $250for build quality, the elastic bands wont break any time soon, akg isnt stupid
    • This is to be expected for reference or flat response phones, but a little more bass would improve the sound of most modern music genres.
    • Classical music on these is unbelievable
    • I was looking for a mixing reference better than my M-Audio Studiophile headphones (which I've always liked).
    • I can have full conversations while wearing these headphones, as ridiculous as I may look.
    • , i've never really heard about this "burning in" myth but 3-4 weeks in i definitely hear a difference as far as tracks that were a bit hot/distorted when i listened 3 weeks ago at a loud but capable level are now cleaner and can take the same volume levels, might be placebo who knows, the china move to have these made over there from Austria must be why the price is so low as they do initially lightweight and "plastic" but keep in mind these are meant to be used in studios not thrown in backpacks and worn on public transportation, the brainwaves pads added some weight that makes them feel more "expensive" in a way, however the key component, the driver seems to not have been compromised for cheaper parts like the housing/build as i a/b tested these with an Austrian built pair my buddy
