Reviews around reproduction (4.59 of 5)

  • They have an excellent reproduction of the entire range
  • Very accurate reproduction of the sound, no artificial emphasis on any part of the frequency range.
  • I can have full conversations while wearing these headphones, as ridiculous as I may look.
  • I highly recommend these headphones for those who crave detail and wonderful sound-stage(accurate reproduction of sound)
  • For anyone wanting accurate music reproduction and natural, effortless sound, you can't go wrong with these.

Reviews around amp (4.46 of 5)

  • Right now my phones are breaking in and I am checking in on them every few hours I have to give my amp a break every 3 hours or so
  • I would recommend that these headphones be driven with a good headphone amp to attain maximum performance.
  • When hooked up to said good receiver, these headphones shine brightly, and if you use a decent headphone amp, then you can enjoy a better quality of sound while on the go
  • Now I really started enjoying these headphones and wanted to see if I couldn't get a little more out of them with a good headphone amp
  • I can't do that with my expensive speakers and amp!And speaking of the Marcin Wasilewski Trio, I could hear a string vibrating (perhaps on the bass?

Reviews around use (4.22 of 5)

  • The only complaint that I have is that they leak sound (my wife can hear them when I am listening (which is strange using a closed ear headphone).
  • When used with a low-power audio source like an iPod, these cans just simply can't get loud enough and are pretty much wasted.
  • now I gotta say that they are the best headphones I've used in my life
  • I still gave them five stars, because they are truly the best headphones I've used
  • So what makes these the best headphones I've used, even better than the more expensive pairs

Reviews around set (4.16 of 5)

  • at the price I paid for these headphones you would assume they would be stellar set
  • I was hesitant about getting a good set of open back headphones for Mixing
  • All this time a set of powerhouse headphones have been in my collection, And I have not exploited them to the fullest of their capabilities
  • Good comfortable set of headphones with a way too long cable
  • Like a very good set of speakers they sound better and better with time

Reviews around detail (4.07 of 5)

  • I can have full conversations while wearing these headphones, as ridiculous as I may look.
  • The cable is detachable which is a great bonus when compared to the K701.The headphones have a very large and detailed soundstage, you'll be able to hear things you weren't able to before, and you can even hear and focus on multiple things at the same time, no detail gets lost
  • The M50 lack any form of a 3D soundstage everything with the M50's sounded smashed up against your face instead of natural not to mention there was too much bass and it lacked detail over all the frequencies
  • The result was a boomy, muffled sound with much of the fine detail lost
  • Pros for me are crystal clear sound and incredible detail

Reviews around phone (3.89 of 5)

  • To combine utter honesty with profound musicality, these phones are an unequaled bargain
  • IPODs doesnt do any justice to these great head phones.
  • I was shocked and delighted to discover that just like anything old and reliable, AKG has upgraded its innards without sacrificing the essence of what those old phones offered - an exceptionally comfortable, over the ear long-time listening experience
  • These phones are a bit less prominent around ~2-8kHz than the Sennheisers
  • If you're a studio or control room rat, you may not be able to use an open-backed pair of headphones because of feedback problems or ambient room environmental conditions, but for stage width and depth, sense of spread, and "air" these phones have only the woefully uncomfortable, fussy and now largely extinct STAX phones as anything like serious competition

Reviews around music (3.84 of 5)

  • just not overwhelming bass (like the Dre's) but enough to enjoy the music the way its supposed to be heard and distortion free
  • The sound that escapes from the other side of the headphones is a lot less than I thought it would be, and probably wouldn't be as big of a deal in public as you might think unless you're somewhere really quiet like a library or you listen to your music super loud
  • If you listen to modern music on these you will hear the distortion and it will hurt your ears.
  • Granted this pair of headphones is not suited to all music genres coming across as thin and neutral for heavy metal or most loud bass heavy music, however it comes to a class of its own when most of one's repertoire is Jazz Vocals and Accoustic instrumentals (Guitar, Flute, Cello).
  • With these headphones you will hear what the music REALLY sounds like from the source with minimal enhancement or coloration.

Reviews around quality (3.83 of 5)

  • When hooked up to said good receiver, these headphones shine brightly, and if you use a decent headphone amp, then you can enjoy a better quality of sound while on the go
  • These are a great purchase with excellent sound quality and longevity.
  • The sound quality is simply astounding and I smile every time I put these headphones on.

Reviews around pair (3.80 of 5)

  • The most comfortable and neutral pair I have ever owned
  • I still own an antiquated pair of AKG phones, the long-out-of-date 400's
  • Does what it says on the tin - good pair of open back headphones
  • So what makes these the best headphones I've used, even better than the more expensive pairs
  • Warranty through AKG was as expected and I received a perfectly working pair of headphones

Reviews around thing (3.75 of 5)

  • Sad thing is, both of those have better ratings, and combined only cost $20 more than these
  • Every thing is so much better on these headphones then the less
  • The main thing I found repeated in various ways as far as feedback goes, was the lack of hard hitting bass.
  • The only thing wrong with these headphones is their build quality
  • The first thing that caught my eye was the absence of the notation "Made in Austria", so prominently embossed on the earpieces of the K702 and other similar AKG product photos shown on Amazon.

Reviews around bass (2.97 of 5)

  • Any music that depends on exaggerated or high bass will feel lacking with these headphones
  • , I don't know if it is because the response is just very flat or because the bass is lacking
  • but with a thicker bass response), but honestly I love the bass on these.
  • I would like more bass, but the sound is flat meaning it is closer to what the sound engineers intended it to sound like.
  • The frequency response then sounds very well integrated and balanced - bass and treble are extended and natural-sounding, without over-emphasis, and the midrange makes instruments sound like themselves and distinct from each other.

Reviews around headband (2.49 of 5)

  • Aside from my suspicion about them being made in China and the uncomfortable headbands, they are good headphones.
  • And for me the headband wasn't as comfortable as could be, in my experience
  • If you crank the volume up, you won't annoy anyone around you as the leakage is minimal
  • The HDJ-2000 was more comfortable because of the plush headbands and pads.
  • The headband gets uncomfortable quicklyOpen-air Cons:- You can hear everything around you right through them, so you turn up the volume- People in the area then complain that your headphones are too loud for them to

Reviews around bite (2.03 of 5)

  • Lastly, they do get a bit uncomfortable with extended use.
  • The fit is a little bit loose so it is not advisable to use in the bed or at the gym
  • the bass is actually deep, just lacks a bit of quantity
  • Honestly, it was a little bit of a weird experience to get used to right at first, but I like it
  • I've been an audiophile for quite a few years now, and I've sank quite a bit of money into great headphones

Reviews around wire (1.33 of 5)

  • I can have full conversations while wearing these headphones, as ridiculous as I may look.
  • Eventually, the wires broke and I had to do some soldering to fix it, which was a pain.
  • The sound is okay to decent, probably because the drivers are new, so I really can't fully qualify the sound, but it sounds 7/10ish currently, where despite degraded wiring I would rate the 601's around a 9/10
  • The internal wires are so cheap and thin they tend to break, and broke within the first year of use
  • The strain on the chord causes the wiring in the inside to eventually become distorted and weaken, to eventually fail, which is the principal reason I am replacing my 601s, despite the ratty appearance
