The combat is vastly improved due to the fact that they borrowed the mechanics of the Batman Arkham games.

I still think that Web of Shadows was the best game that incorporated an ambitious combat system, and a unique creative storyline that included some major characters from the Spidery universe and had the symbiote in it for God's sake (it's just the only thing that even a casual fan of Spidey should want in the game).
