While I highly recommend using Alexa-based devices, I strongly discourage purchasing the Amazon Tap

I can understand that there may be some regulatory hurdles for allowing a portable device to have access to certain features or battery concerns, but the Tap knows when it is charging on the base

Here's my review:The Tap is a small, easy to carry, battery powered, Alexa-enabled device that can play my Amazon music, read a Kindle book, or play an Audible book, and maybe check the weather or use other Alexa skills, such as Pandora.

Excellent hardware - very well built device with: fabric grille around the exterior, concentric circles at bottom employing charging contacts so placing on circular charging base ensures a sure-fit connection and solid charge, ability to 'press to activate' Alexa or use Alexa app to change settings to 'handsfree activation", 'what's the battery level' voice response, and very good wide range speaker/s for encompassing sound whether it's music or talk (podcasts or radio, etc), and fairly long battery life for portable use

I love my echo devices but for some reason the Tap doesn't always play nice with some of the Amazon options, it has had difficulties playing music and my Audible books, to name a couple of items.

The idea is Great transport your device around to areas of the home you don't have a Alexa or speaker.

It is the only portable Amazon device (that I am aware of, and I own all but the Plus), and because it's main purpose is a speaker I have moved it to the back porch (or take it to the garge when I am working)

I was expecting a portable echo device

First, let me state that neither one is 100% perfect, because at times, Alexa has a hearing problem (confuses B, V, D for example or doesn't hear me at all)

and I can say it is the most frustrating electronic I have ever owned

The music is distorted I regret i that i did not return the tap to upgrade to a better model.

Im torn about whether I love this or not, out of all the echo devices this one is my favorite (I actually hate the other two I own)
