Good sound

could not get a good sound out of it and am trying to return

There were no bends or dents in it when it arrived, and the one note I can sustain sounds clear.

Easy to play-- good sound!

The sound is rather nice, and it has 6 holes all right, like a fife is supposed to have, but because of the tuning issue you can not really play slow melodies on it: you have to whistle some fast shrilling tunes in a hope that nobody will have enough time to detect the falseness =)

It wasn't the deep, resonant, spiritual sound you might expect from a $5000 wooden flute played by an expert, but it was a pretty sound, quite clear

The sound is wonderful.

Cool if ou want to just show it to a class, to show how transverse flutes work, blowing over the hole, but sounds terrible and is hard to get clear notes out of it

Authentic fife, with clear sound

Looks high quality, but I cannot make a consistent sound yet.

Has a distinct tiny sounds as well, which might not be a bad thing for you.

it was my first one and it took me three minutes to get the holes covered and my lips in the right shape to get a clear sound.

I have a cheap plastic one from Yamaha, which I learned is not a true fife (traditional 6 finger holes no thumb hole), though that one is pretty good as well, but I get a richer sound from this metal one.

I have it for about 4 days, so not much action, but I have gotten a fairly decent sound out of it

I recommend this fife, great sounding and easy to play, I've played a few times but my grandson is so much better.

I just kept at it and now have a good clean sound and three octaves.

It didn't seem like much of a challenge to get a good sound out of it

and I feel that if one wishes and has the time with this fife can make some great sounds.
