This is only useful if you're just looking for a little something to play around with if you're bored.
It's cool looking, and maybe a different one would be formed slightly better.
Nice looking lip plate, easy to read instructions, good feel, but when you get down to it, just not a good instrument to actually sit down and try to play.

The plating was flawless

I have a cheap plastic one from Yamaha, which I learned is not a true fife (traditional 6 finger holes no thumb hole), though that one is pretty good as well, but I get a richer sound from this metal one.
it was my first one and it took me three minutes to get the holes covered and my lips in the right shape to get a clear sound.
It didn't seem like much of a challenge to get a good sound out of it
Cool if ou want to just show it to a class, to show how transverse flutes work, blowing over the hole, but sounds terrible and is hard to get clear notes out of it
could not get a good sound out of it and am trying to return
My 6 year old son wanted a flute and I am EXTREMELY pleased in the construction, quality and sound from this inexpensive flute.
Seriously, when a cheap wooden / bamboo flute is out of tune, I can see how it is hard to drill holes consistently, and how you may have to tolerate it
Modern flutes are far easier to play well, they are loud and high pitched
the wood fife and most of the music is for fife in the key of D and this one is pitched in the key of C other then that the mouthpiece is close to a flutes so easy to play, but some of the notes are better then others its an OK buy to blow a few
Tougher than a recorder to play but not as tough as a quena flute when it comes to making it whistle.
This was a much better quality instrument than I expected to receive, for the price
Not sure how you can produce such a good instrument at such a low price!
I bought it as a cheap practice instrument that I would not be real sorry to lose.
It is not necessarily an easy or a hard instrument, you just have to put in the effort to learn how to find, or adjust your technique to the instrument.
I wanted something that was a good learning instrument, but not at the price of a full fledged flute
Once the intonation issue was corrected the instrument became very easy to play and it is very easy to produce a good clear note.
I was blowing clear notes and could play 2 octaves.
take your time, remember how you held it when you get a good note and then practice.

Unfortunetly for me, I can't seem to get the hang of proper lip placement etc
Nice looking lip plate, easy to read instructions, good feel, but when you get down to it, just not a good instrument to actually sit down and try to play.
I kind of missed having the feel of playing a flute

This a decent simple 6-hole instrument and give it a 4, only because it is harder to play than others... doesn't provide much for cluing you in on the best position, so you just have to learn where this position is on you lip.
and IF you are willing to work at your embouchere/mouth position to scale it down from flute size to fife size, and IF you understand how to move the cork stopper to put it in a correct position so that all the notes play in tune, and IF you play it a lot and don't mind that some of the plating will start to wear and reveal the good brass
I kind of missed having the feel of playing a flute

It wasn't difficult to find the correct position to blow, and I have a good feeling about this instrument.
