To counter this, I recommend you explore refreshing your router with DD-WRT which is an open-source code for routers and is supported by the internet community at large.

If you need a better router than what your cable company leases to you, this is a great router

Any high end router is going to have limited packet loss unless you have a lot of interference of are overwhelming it, when I say we punish our routers, I'm greatly understating it.

Additionally, I think the slim profile that this unit presents is easier on the eyes than some of the giant router boxes (especially if this is going to be visible somewhere).All in all, it's a great router at a price point just lower than the top end TPLINK routers.

The Athena -R2 is a modern WiFi router

Please take a look at the firmware history of some of these expensive routers and you'll see that the firmware really only gets updated once and then the product is declared end of life and there will be no more updates

MU-MIMOYou have to remember that these advertised speeds leverage MU-MIMO (multiple user, multiple input, multiple output) which is a newer technology that requires BOTH the router and your main device (whether your xbox, playstation, tablet, iphone, etc) to also support MU-MIMO technology

The only thing I like about it is that it gives you all of the settings in a more technical way instead of a user friendly way that newer smart routers use now

Once Amped works out the dropped network issue, this will be a great router.
