My last computer burned out due to daily power spikes and outages in Florida

This has kept my computer not only safe during storms, ( when other so-called protectors let the hard drive get fried), but it has kept it running without interruption when the electricity suddenly went out.

When power goes out this operates as a back up and protects the computer.
