APC Back-UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BE750G)

    • Works well, and I even did the unplug test for my Mac Mini with two external monitors and a LaCie hard drive
    • That does not only mean you have to reconnect to the internet twice every time (generator chips in, goes out), it can't be good for a hard drive
    • It's also protecting my Seagate Backup Plus Slim portable hard drive.
    • I firmly believe that brown outs are very damaging to motherboards and hard drives and you can extend their life by having a UPS power them
    • i have my Desktop computer, monitor, XBOX, Laptop, TV, External Hard Drive, Speakers; everything hook up to it and still i have available watts to plug more stuff.
    • and then back on that totally fried one of my hard drives.
    • I only run the computer, the monitor and my external hard drives through the master outlets on this UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
    • This prevents this and the power saver feature shuts down the everything but the hard drive to cut parasitic losses
    • Got a PVR with external hard drive
    • Completely solved my USB hub's 'brownout' problems that caused the backlit keyboard and USB external hard drive to glitch whenever the laser printer's heater/fuser element powered on--I'm guessing that means it's more responsive/got a lower latency rating
    • Worked like a charm through several short blackouts we've had lately in our rural CA locale during the latest storms with an i7 desktop replete with mid-to-high range graphics and a 20" monitor, USB hub and external hard drive all protected
    • Local power company has spikes and outages that result in me losing a mechanical hard drive once in three years
    • Bought two of these after power dip crashed my hard drive.
    • It's also protecting my Seagate Backup Plus Slim portable hard drive.
    • This has kept my computer not only safe during storms, ( when other so-called protectors let the hard drive get fried), but it has kept it running without interruption when the electricity suddenly went out.
    • In addition to my computer, I am running on the battery back-up outlets a flat panel monitor, external hard drive, cable modem which provides both Internet and phone, wireless router, and cordless phone
    • Long enough to finish what i am doing and shut down normally preventing bad sectors on my hard drive.
    • For 2-3 months, my husband was telling me that we needed to get a new APC Uninterruptable Power Supply because we were in the process of upgrading his motherboard, chip, hard drive, etc..
    • Plus, I bought one XBox 360 with a 250GB hard drive
    • Weak performance with a 27" iMac with and external hard drive
    • 99% of the time, the power to my home will turn back on within that time frame but when it doesn't, Windows will shut down for me but doesn't shut down my external hard drives, unfortunately, so I have to be sure I turn those off when I go to bed, just in case
    • On reboot, the Synology reported safe rebooting without improper shutdown of hard drives
    • The APC BE750G had no trouble powering my iMac i7 27" and the attached 24" Apple Cinema Display, and several hard drives etc
    • This unit seems to work well, as I no longer suffer lockups of the blue ray player or loss of streamed video over the internet.
