I've been needing a UPS for quite some time now, but kept putting it off - it's certainly not one of the flashier computer upgrades, you won't notice any performance increase, and good quality models aren't exactly cheap.

If/when you have a power outage, it automatically kicks in to supply up to 15 or 20 minutes of continued power to your computer as well as to such ancillary things as a printer, a modem, etc..

This unit seems to work well, as I no longer suffer lockups of the blue ray player or loss of streamed video over the internet.
