APC Back-UPS Pro 1000VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BR1000G)

    • I updated from a surge protection only device
    • seems to work well will have to see how good the surge protection is
    • Had a chance to see how the surge protection of this unit works when lightning struck the power pole outside our shop recently
    • I really like that there are outlets that only have surge protection and do not drain the battery.
    • Works great, sets-up easily - excellent alternative power source and surge protection.
    • I have all other important devices on surge protection already, but my internet cannot go down if the power is out
    • If you need to use an extension cord, use a high amperage, heavy duty cord that itself has no surge protection.
    • Works perfectly for surge protection for my video equipment.
    • Not to mention the built-in surge protection as well.
    • I saw some comments that the unit does not have surge protection
    • This unit does have surge protection
    • However, I ran into an issue using the surge protection for coaxial cables
    • Had a chance to see how the surge protection of this unit works when lightning struck the power pole outside our shop recently
    • So it's a glorified power-strip with surge protection
    • I keep all DVR's, Computer tower, Router, Modem, BOSE system and one computer monitor plugged into the backup side and use the surge protection for the other components.
    • Provides surge protection as well as backup power
    • Five outlets have surge protection only and five have surge protection and power backup
    • Any devices that you can do without in a power outage, put on the surge protection only sockets.
    • I haven't had to test the surge protection, fortunately, but I've not yet had an APC product let me down
    • I also like it has "master" and "slave" outlets; backup outlets and just surge protection outlets.
    • The one basic function you expect with a product that markets itself as surge protection is to actually protect against surges, not create them!
    • They are a good alternative to a power strip, as they function as surge protection and UPS
    • Everything had been connected to the older UPS, which had nominal surge protection, but was smoked anyway
    • 12 outlets can't go wrong there -- only downside is both large adapter outlets are surge protection only (not battery backup) so I still needed a one-foot extension cord for a bulky adapter, but not a big deal
    • I could have picked up 16 or more for the same price if all I needed was surge protection
    • The surge protection for power and ethernet worked fine.
    • The right side outlets (marked "Surge Only") are nothing more than line voltage outlets that have a surge protection circuit
    • Power outage at the house (Storm), lost connectivity (router, etc.)...the "U" in UPS is false with this thing
    • But my last purchase failed by killing my land phone line for 2 days until I found that the problem was in the BR1000g
    • Thank you!!APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector (BR1500G)
    • 1500G (non-sinewave) is still running strong and it's on the same circuit.
    • It's also completely silent, no fans at all (BR1000G)
    • I believe the APC BR1000G is working well as the room where the Alienware is being used is much cooler than prior to use of this UPS box.
    • They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
    • These machines also have state of art computer controls that require clean a/c current
    • My inverter just doesn't have enough power by itself or clean a/c
    • They don' t require much power, like the Bridgeport mill and Republic Turnmaster lathe they serve
    • Other companies are certainly improving, but when it's critical I always go with APC.
    • Not as bad as I first thought
