So if you are unlucky like me to have been hit by a winter storm and are without power for days, this unit is pretty much useless at protecting your computer

I don't know of how much protection this BR1500G or my older unit provided in terms of spikes and clean power, but do know my equipment tends to run longer than most.

If it really bothers you, simply set the unit to put the display into power savings mode, which turns the display off

This unit is also great to keep the internet and network up and running during a power outage.

Furthermore, CyberPower has made myself and friends PAY to ship defective units back to them in the past, while APC handles warranty returns and exchanges for free (which is critical for shipping a heavy UPS that equates to expensive shipping)

The unit has an alarm that goes on when the power goes off

One criticism is that the front panel doesn't stay lit like my older unit did, so I can't just glance down to see it's status (it only stays lit for 1 min and there is no setting to change that)

Worst-case, you might have to call APC and have them mail you a new unit, and you'll have to bring the defective unit to FedEx store or pick-up location for a free-shipment back to APC

The sound from a defective unit is an annoying low-pitch high-frequency/sonic sound that almost sounds like a small insect or tiny mouse, and the sound goes off every 4 or 5 seconds like clockwork

This unit supplies well regulated A/C power to my large computer that uses a number of peripheral devices.

Love the software that come with it to set the parameters from your computer rather than the front buttons and will tell you if the unit is no longer working
