While the unit thinks the battery is bad and needs to be replaced, if you unplug the unit from the wall outlet so that the APC is running on battery, the run time on the "bad batteries" is, about a YEAR after the "failed battery" alarms started, at about 83% of what it was when the unit was new!!!

1. replacing the battery would be insanely easy on this APC (slide off the bottom cover, slide out the old battery, slide in the new battery, replace cover), and 2. the PowerChute software (if you use the ethernet-to-usb cable to monitor the unit on your computer) is much more useful than CyberPower's software -- APC's will tell you when the last under/over occured, how much power you're drawing, estimated time based on power drawn, cost per day (you can even specify your personal $/kWh rate), CO2 emission rate (if you're interested in your footprint), modifying the over/under Voltage amounts, modifying the sensitivity to electrical noise, and so on

a GOOD battery back up/surge protector if you live in an area with annoying power black outs such as frequent thunderstorms
