You should be aware that the battery is not replaceable

The 600VA has customer replaceable hot swap battery.

While they COULD have easily facilitated a replaceable battery, it seems they purposely made the battery fixed, using security screws down a long narrow shaft is sending a loud message

Good battery

The battery on the previous backup unit (NOT an APC brand) failed and I could not buy a replacement battery so that backup unit ended up being junk.

In contrast to APC Back-UPS units I've used previously, the Back-UPS 425VA BE425M does NOT have a user-replaceable battery and the manual recommends taking the unit to an authorized service center when the battery no longer charges.

If the battery fails within 3 years (these batteries normally last around 4-5), then the good news is that you're covered by the warranty, and you'll likely get a completely new unit

Great Battery

I got this backup to replace an ancient APC battery backup I bought at Sams Club sometime around 2006 which I really love, but in the meantime both battery technology and the power consumed by modern computers has changed significantly

They do not cut off before the battery is run flat and ruined either

Keeps good battery life and has the various types of plugs such as surge-only and battery + surge

After working with the manufacturer on some simple APC testing, they determined that the battery back-up unit unit was defective and shipped a replacement unit with pre-paid postage to return the defective unit to them

Then the AC goes out, and suddenly you're in a dangerous situation where there's little or no battery power available to keep your devices running.

Usually they have replaceable batteries; not sure if this one does or not, but if it came to end of life for the price I'd prob just get a new one.

.It's great for low wattage items like computer monitors, consoles, maybe a phone or tablet, even a laptop can do well given the redundant battery systems involved

Anyway, it's only ~$7/yr of electricity (at 12 cents / kWh).Does Not beep when it loses power, but supposedly will (non-defeatable) when the battery gets weak and is about to die.

Cheap low end battery - battery lasted a little over a year - avoid mainly because of the cheap batteries they are using.

We only have the computer and a landline phone plugged into it, but that's why we got this nice small battery

Sealed lead acid batteries ususally last only 2-3 years in a UPS, and in this unit the battery is not removable

Just make sure to stay under the recommended wattage to not kill the battery off so quickly as well getting the most time out of the battery unit (especially if you want to keep your phone charged).Highly recommended

The battery should not have failed so early

The ad lists four related products on one page but nowhere are the product features (such as user replaceable battery) compared

I can buy another battery for it, but it's not much cheaper than buying a whole new unit

Easier to recycle or dispose of (properly) a battery instead of a whole darn unit

The one I received had a dead battery right out of the box

Now, they are 2 years old and five of the Twelve have completely failed batteries.

There still is no wording in the advertisement that the battery is not replaceable, albeit that this is virtually not seen in the UPS business

I have had two power outages since starting to buy these (started with 5 and I add one every month) and they worked as I expected them to.
