I live in the metro Atlanta area and for whatever reason, our "state of the art" electric company can't seem to deliver reliable power to my suburban area.

When it shuts down, it disables power to all ports so you can't even use it as a reliable power strip

not too expensive and worked when we lost power.

It provide sufficient power for those devices to allow me to do a safe shutdown and avoid data loss or equipment damage

APC product info does not use the phrase "Power Conditioning" in describing the features of their UPC, however, I do believe, like other customers, that this UPC is cleaning up the dirty electric power in this 70 year old house

To me the most important factor for these are so your computer doesn't abruptly shut down when you have unexpected power outage giving you chance to gracefully shut down.
