Apricorn SATA Wire Notebook Hard Drive Upgrade Kit with USB 2.0 Connection ASW-USB-25 (White)

    • After some searching around and watching some not-entirely-helpful videos, I decided to get this USB-to-SATA cable to simplify the process of cloning my old hard drive before I replaced it
    • The USB 2.0 isn't fast but it gains it back in compatability
    • What you're essentially paying for is a snazzy USB-to-Hard Drive
    • This software is garbage, The USB to SATA drive works but forget cloning any drive/OS with the software
    • Plug in the new SSD 256gb into a free USB port with supplied adapter3
    • HDD to an Intel 520 SSD.USB 3.0 did not work on my notebook, so I used the available USB 2.0 on my computer
    • This is great to connect a HDD quickly via USB - works great, and very fast considering it is a USB connection.
    • If you have fast USB 3.0 ports, fast on-board controllers, fast-working firmware, a fast processor, and fast SSD drives to work with, this cable lets all of it fly together.
    • I think Apricorn has a USB 3.0 version available now if your laptop is equipped with USB 3.0
    • USB-25 (White) cable and software worked very well to clone a 500GB HD from a HP dv7 to a 1TB HD
    • Registers under the appropriate USB 3.0 eXtensible driver, and works reliably with the computer's USB 3.0 hardware (Renesas Tech uPD720202 chipset).
    • The hardware is just a decent USB to SATA bridge.
    • USB 3 slot is a little sloppy and the USB 3 pigtail cable is a bit stiff, so At 1st it wasn't seeing my new SSD
    • usb 3.0 just work on usb 2.0 on WIN 8 only
    • I connected the cable to my new drive, I plugged that in to the USB port (USB 2.0 is preferred, of course).
    • I had previously purchased the Apricorn SATA Wire USB 2.0 upgrade kit and loved how easy it was to upgrade my hard drives without losing any data or programs and getting an exact clone of the original hard drive but with a larger capacity with the new hard drive
    • USB 3.0 cloning is amazing
    • If I connect this to a USB 2 port it works fine, albeit at USB 2 speeds
    • I thought the USB 2.0 speed was fine since I've always considered all cloning processes to be slow but the USB 3.0 has a dramatic improvement in the whole process speed
    • BUT it does come with a very useful SATA/USB 3.0 cable that was most helpful.
    • I used this product to clone my laptop hdd to a new Samsung SSD 840 pro, and it worked as advertised, Im giving it 3 stars because the Samsung cloning software could not detect the drive if connected to a USB 3 port, I had to used the slow USB 2 instead
    • Just as good as any other generic sata to usb 3.0
    • After swapping the drives, I powered on the laptop and Windows 8.1 did some configuration stuff which was really promising - I've read plenty of horror stories about partitions not being aligned and Windows not booting up without a recovery USB drive present (which I did make ahead of time, just in case), but there weren't any problems here
    • It worked in the legacy USB 2.0 port, but at a far reduced speed.
    • and I'm thinking that usb 3.0 backups might make the purchase worthwhile, even if the old SATAWire 2.0 still works great for cloning 500Gb hard drives to 500Gb SSDs!
    • and I'm thinking that usb 3.0 backups might make the purchase worthwhile, even if the old SATAWire 2.0 still works great for cloning 500Gb hard drives to 500Gb SSDs!
    • the absolute best 2.5 drive adapter to usb made cloning tool works well in most
    • It is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 while allowing you to use the faster USB 3.0 connection if you have it
    • USB-25 (White) cable and software worked very well to clone a 500GB HD from a HP dv7 to a 1TB HD
    • It didn't seem like it was a 3.0 USB
    • You simply take the new drive, connect it to an available USB port with the cable, and run the software.
