The only problem is you do need to be careful or you will break off the clips.

Reason why I gave it a 4/5 star is because I noticed the clips scratched my air vents quite a bit when I had a hard time putting it on

After I broke clips on this model twice while trying to re- mount it, I switched to a different type of mount.

The clips to hold the mount to your vent are cheap, I didnt if attemp to try and drive around with my gps flopping around.

we rented this week, but the clips don't follow the contour of a Saturn VUE vent (probably not a big issue as Saturn has gone belly up)

The clips are a bit deep, so I have lost some of the aim mobility of that vent, but it has not been a problem either

I feel this is due to two design flaws: 1) the cheap thermoplastic clips use lose their strength quickly- not being as tiff as they originally were and 2) the end of the clips have a vertical face when they should be angled a bit so they want to catch the air vent if something goes to pull the Garmin device out

The Arkon vent clip is a very clever design and locates my Garmin Nuvi 50 in a position that is easy to see and easy to reach

Just be sure that your air vents aren't too fragile as the clips on the mount are very hard to open and could scratch the paint on the vents.

The clips are not strong enough to hold the unit on the vent.

Hold down clips are broken in four pieces two days after it was installed in the car.

But it is very brittle and just the weight of the unit was enough stress to break a clip off with normal driving.

I do not know if the problem is the temperatures they are exposed to being right on the vent (it has been very warm here, over 100 degrees for a few days so the vent is sending out very cool air right around the mount that would get very hot when the car is parked) warping the plastic or if I just happened to get defective clips, twice.

The clips on the mount are a little flimsy (you get what you pay for) but it seems that they hold up just fine as long as you don't use excessive force on them while they are mounted.

Once you get it clipped to the dash, it's mostly OK, but those little clips look like they'll break off sooner or later

UPDATE-9/8/13: After several years of use the vent clips (plastic) would no longer close entirely, and the device would slip off the vents

The only problem I encountered was the vent clips fit a little to tight in the in the mount itself

You have to manually depress the clips to hook them to your vent and then depress them again to remove the unit.

I have bought two of these now, so I have some spare parts for the next time I break a clip.

They came in the mail very quickly and do seem to have more tension and appear sturdier that the original clips

Great idea but needs to be taken a bit further with metal vent clips.
