I took it for a quick drive, turning left and right, over a few bumpy but not terribly bumpy roads and it stayed right in place

Also, I have a fear that the bottom piece of the mount will cause damage and scratch off the paint on my console as the roads I drive are quite bumpy and may cause damage over the years caused by the bumps and vibrations although it has a small cushion in place.

The two upper clips securely holds the unit snugly without worrying about this detaching on even the bumpiest roads

Stays on rough roads

My Garmin is large and it does seem to move somewhat on rough road but returns to position well after a bounce.

The mount works well enough for relatively smooth roads, but won't hold the GPS steady in off-road conditions.

As long and the road is smooth (like most highways) it stays in place and holds the Garmin just fine, but on bumpy roads or roads with lots of curves it moves and doesn't hold on to the vent well.

so I think this is more of an option for people who use it infrequently and on smoother roads.

It does wiggle a little when driving, especially if the road isn't smooth, but it stays where I can see it, and has never dropped into my lap--as the suction-cup mount did all the time.

The unit stayed in place during my around-the-town travels and we had some of the bumpiest roads around

I feel it could be made somewhat more sturdy, it tends to slip when rough road are encountered.

it sturdily holds my GPS in place even on rough road plus its easy to attach and unattach my GPS from it, i dont even have to remove it from the vent

I just took a nearly 3,000 mile road trip, no problems with the mount at all, some of the roads were a bit rough and it did wiggle around a bit but really no more than the factory

i drive on rough roads and the thing bounces hard on the country roads

On a rough road it will slide.

Also, if the road is bumpy (like a gravel road), the Nuvi bounces and vibrates making it difficult to look at

The fit is very sturdy with no vibration or movement even going over bumpy roads.

Reason it did not get 5 stars is because it does shake a little when driving over rough roads, so I used a little piece of foam from a band aid to dampen the effect.

The mount has a lifetime warranty and Arkon has an easy way to order the replacement clips (see comment from Aaron at Arkon below as well as in the question section)
