I can't tell you if the speed is really much faster since I just installed last night

Among their favorites were: possibly too many devices on the wifi, the wifi is only as fast as the slowest device on the network, your equipment may be too old (uh, no…), possibly too many nearby neighbors with wifi, and the go-to escape clause: speeds are only guaranteed over Ethernet

I may think about upgrading to the FIOS gigabit speed to see if that would increase speed sufficiently or if it's the router that is actually throttling the speeds

There are times you can have bit slower speeds which doesn't mean you have any issues on your end

This router replaced my 9yr old router and the speed is unbelievable

The remaining HDDs are inaccessible.- WiFi speed is very slow

Can't even use the 5GHZ channel because the speeds are so slow.

long story short the QOS (quality of service) thing in the router settings was freezing up my true internet speeds to do the complete opposite of what it claims

It also seems to have lower latency and faster speeds than my old TP Link 1750

The speed and coverage of the 5GHz band is so amazing I have honestly turned auto connect off on all of my devices for the 2.4GHz band

The bandwidth limiter feature is very nice, I can limit the internet speed of an individual device so that it doesn't hog all the bandwidth.

Easy setup and fast speeds

The Asus router solved all the issues I had with wi-fi signal and the speed is so much better

Strong 2.4 GHz signal with good penetration, and the usual somewhat reflective 5 GHz performance but still good speeds throughout the house.

To get really great speeds you need to be able to match the wireless mode (AC), bandwidth (Hz), and also modulation scheme (NitroQAM/1024-QAM)

The TP Link on the other hand retains fairly consistent speeds as long as you see signal strength, and the signal does seem to have better range.

AC3100 to improve speed, not to have so many connection issues

The main problem, as is stated in many other reviews is that the 'auto' function will assign the router to a channel that will conflict with other routers in the area, like your neighbors, and limit the speed

First router I received had some major issues, 4 of the 8 Ethernet ports were not working, and although the wifi had very fast speeds, there was some instability of wireless devices on the network

After getting gigabit Internet at home I decided to update the firmware and try again so I could take advantage of the (theoretically) faster speeds on the 5GHZ

I love the speeds it provides, I'm using WiFi and getting close to 100 Mbps on the 5 GHz line.

I am now getting better speeds through the AC88U then connecting through the Xfinity router/modem directly

However, I noted that my laptop often would connect to the 2.4ghz frequency which then limited the speeds to 50mbs

Out of the box, this Asus RT-AC88U has even less consistent speeds (bounces all over between ~75 Mbps and ~300)

but I thought I should be getting betters speeds

I'm not really much of a gamer, and i don't have a huge mansion of a house, so all the "blazing fast" speeds and amazing range of coverage isn't really high on my priority list

Game room upstairs (with no doors in-between the router and the devices) had spotty connection and slow speeds.

Speed wise it seems to have no issues at all handling a mixture of around 40 wired and wireless devices.

Lastly, once you are logged on, if you're not fighting slow, slow speeds... you're getting dropped and need to select a wireless network in order to continue your session

But the slower network file transfer speeds, and the inability to actually enumerate nodes on the network via names rather than just IP's, makes this far less usable than they'd like you to think it is...

Getting 10x faster speeds than I was with my old router which was almost 8 years old.

We have AT&T Gigabit and the Asus RT-AC3200 had the best speeds in the home and second best outside.

Plenty of settings internally, and I get good speeds thoughout my house.
