I am using a 2014 15" Macbook Pro Retina and the monitor is good but not as good as the actual retina display

Clearly grainy display compared to most LED monitors I've seen because of this, and isn't as bright as it should be.

You can make the display as sharp or smooth as you need dependent on what you are doing with it.
