It got nothing but great reviews

I was wary of ordering it based on some of the bad reviews here but the monitor I received was perfect

I had to look for it since reviews are finicky about it but nothing major where it's unpleasant

This review is regarding the PG279Q model, and there is a big caveat with it.

I was incredibly wary to actually purchase this monitor based on the bad overall reviews across here and Newegg, but am incredibly satisfied that I took the plunge

Original Review:I was really worried about buying this monitor because of all of the bad reviews and early QC issues, but the monitor I received is just about perfect.

First, if you take the advice from the better reviewing sites and take over something that approximates their calibrated settings.. you end up around 25% brightness and the maximum RGB spectrum for this monitor

I can clearly see that many of the pictures of backlight "bleed" are very obviously an IPS glow... so the negative reviews surrounding that belong on the 279, not the 278.Its entirely possible that some of these 278's have backlight bleed, but the horror pictures i see posted are very obviously IPS glow

Needless to say, this monitor has many reviews and sticks around a 4 star average.

Welp, despite all the negative reviews, I said to hell with it and spent $1300 on this monitor.

I was hesitant due to the cost and because of the negative reviews regarding the light bleed and dead pixels

I had read so many negative reviews about backlight bleed and dead pixels that I was really worried about pulling the trigger on it

I debated on buying the ASUS PG279Q (IPS version) monitor for the longest time due to the poor reviews.

I almost didn't buy it because of all the negative reviews about quality control, but from what I can tell this is a top tier display, and worth every penny.

I was very put off by the price and negative reviews from other uses

the 9Q had a lot of scary reviews with dead pixels and back bleeds and problems

I say "unfortunately" because if you spend a hot second reading reviews online, you'll see a ton of comments about QC issues

After i read all the bad review about this screen i hesitated too much to buy this screen, but when i saw it on Amazon selling it as Used - very good at a price slightly higher than 50% of the new product, I took the risk and bought it

I was initially very hesitant to purchase one of these high refresh rate IPS panels after reading such an abundance of poor reviews from unhappy purchasers

I can't believe how positive the reviews are for this thing

Still keeping my review at 1 star until Asus issues a statement and or fixes this fiasco.

My recommendation would be too not let some of the bad reviews here push you away

There is a tiny bit in the upper right hand corner, but nothing like the poor reviews this monitor got earlier in its production life

P.S. - I think all the reviews that say "perfect, no issues" are just swallowing the BLB issues due to the monitor being so awesome otherwise

Hope that helps someone like me, who spent days reading every review across multiple storefronts and agonizing over a purchase.

Normally I would just get a replacement instead of returning because faulty products do happen...however with the number of bad reviews I don't want to waste my time sending replacements back and forth

The thing that really made me aware of the IPS glow is doing my research on the monitors and reading all of these hateful reviews that are out there, which almost had me believe that it was BLB before doing some more digging on the matter

Reality is much different and the top quality samples sent to reviewers to base their "glowing" reviews on simply don't seem to be common for those of us actually shelling out the cash to buy one

If something is worth a 5 star, I will go online and be the one person to tell you that it's a good product because I think on average, more people go online to write angry review than they do to go online and write good reviews

With all the negative reviews on this product line don't be nervous with the TN option as i have yet to see a problem with it
