Either way, so long as you are not upset when/if the next zenith asus motherboard comes out supporting some of the second generation optimization/features - and support the first generation series as well.. You will not regret this purchase, and it sounds like amd plans to support this socket for a long time.

But once you get there, you won't regret your purchase!

This brought me to the AMD Threadripper 1950X due to the core count, performance reviews and price and this thing is a total beast and being that it's new there were limited motherboards on the market at purchase time compatible.
