I got side tracked, AI mesh performance is really good, the routers now put your phones and tablets in the 2.4ghz band and higher bandwidth items in the 5ghz

Performance has been excellent, bar none, reaching the far corners of my house and very fast

So - without any other changes except this firmware update - leading to its already-poor performance getting much worse, I have begrudgingly concluded that I wasted $180 on Asus hardware

The AsusWRT-Merlin firmware has some OpenVPN enhancements that are important to me as well as better load balancing for the router's dual core procsessor which improves stability and performance.

This is my second Asus router and like the first, is easy to set up, easy to manage and offers dependable performance day after day

The speeds are as fast as my internet will run, along with as fast as my NAS will run, all over the AC band.
