AT&T CL2909 Corded Phone with Speakerphone and Caller ID/Call Waiting, White

    • Display is difficult to read
    • No answering machine and a dim display.
    • This phone has an excellent speakerphone built-in, a great display for caller ID or just programming the 8 speed dial buttons
    • However, I'm replacing the last one after only a few years because the digital display became more and more faint, until I had to replace it
    • It really isn't a heavy duty item that someone would want for an office and that is why I only gave it four stars along with the fact that the dial does not light up and the display is a bit fuzzy.
    • I am very disappointed in this missing feature because as an older, I was looking for the illuminated display screen on the phone by my bed for easy viewing
    • The display could be a little brighter....perhaps.
    • However, screening my calls has become way too challenging with the mis-programmed phone number display.
    • i.e. phone number 555-555-1212 is displayed as 5555-5-1212.
    • Display could have a little better contrast but it works.
    • hopefully when it arrives it won't have a defective display.
    • My second one in 4 years is losing its display, just like the first one.
    • However, on the 950 the caller ID phone number displayed exactly as expected - 1-213-3324976.
    • Even with the contrast up to "4", the highest, the display was extremely hard to read.
    • The LED display is terrible
    • Display is dark and hard to read.
    • I just read the most recent negative reviews and was disappointed to see that the company apparently has still not fixed the defective displays, and still not fixed the defective speakerphone operation
    • The display does not illuminate as pictured
    • As others have noted, the display is somewhat hard to read, as it is not backlit.
    • This phone has very small display with no backup lighting.display is very hard to read no matter the light.we returned this phone after ordering because the display also was additionally defective with missing or dead pixels so you could not figure out the numbers displayed
    • I just purchased my second one of these because the display and speaker, both battery dependent functions, stopped working on my older phone after about 3 years
    • Six months after, with light usage, the speaker is crackling and the display is half-legible, and even that's the wrong half (the top half of the LCD screen has, alas, died).
    • Yes, displays fail over time, but it's a $0 fix
    • I guess I missed the prior buyer’s comment about the caller ID display light that DOES NOT work
    • The illustration of the phone implies a bright pale bluish display, but, in fact, it is rather grey and dark, so even when bending down, it is still difficult to read
    • Why did we replace the old one with the same unit since it had some faults, e.g., the mediocre display?
    • Small troubles: Digital display of info hard to read
    • the display is clear, as long as there is good light, very hard to see in subdued light
    • As others have written, the display dies a slow death over months, then finally goes away
    • The caller ID display is bright enough to see who is calling
    • display isn't clear and impossible to read even with brand new alkaline batteries, had it 22
    • I LOVE THE LARGE DISPLAY AND CLARITY OF THE CALL IDS AND SPEAKER
    • The ID display did not work on this new telephone.
    • The illustration of the phone implies a bright pale bluish display, but, in fact, it is rather grey and dark, so even when bending down, it is still difficult to read
    • Display is very hard to read.
    • ALTERNATIVESI briefly evaluated the corded 2 line AT&T Model 993 Nice back-lit display etc, BUT had annoying lower frequency hum on the line (Technical: 60hz hum probably from defective
    • the first one we had for 6 years before the digital display quit working.
    • The display went bad after about a year.
    • The display is unclear and much too small
    • The display is a little hard to read under certain lighting conditions.
    • The display does not light up like in the picture
    • If on a desk, the display is perfectly easy to read since the angle is correct
    • The display is useless and falsely advertised
    • If wall mounted, the display is difficult to read unless you bend down to view it from a lower angle
    • Unfortunately, at the height the phone is positioned on the wall, the display is virtually unreadable.
    • However, the display started missing pixels in a way that appears to be a display memory failure
    • GOOD DISPLAY
    • The LED display is terrible
    • It has all the features I could ask for save one - an illuminated display
    • Display is really hard to read
    • Then dial tone returned, but the display suddenly stopped working
    • Now the display on one of the home phones has stopped working.
    • The caller ID display is bright and clear.
    • nice phone, display is very dim and difficult to read.
    • Now the display is not working properly (even with new battery).
    • Has speakerphone and hold and nice display for incoming caller ID and setup.
    • This is a better product than the one it replaces; the display is easier to see
    • The display is nice.
    • Our unit hangs underneath a small shelf so that the display does not get much ambient light, resulting in a useless display in our configuration.
    • Nice phone ,but the display is hard to see not lit enough
    • I am still using my original phone, in my kitchen, that was more expensive but the digital display is still fine.
    • The display on my biz phone stopped working after about a year.
    • But when replacing with fresh batteries, display stays dead; and now no buttons work, even the regular numbers to make a call (yes have put in the batteries the right way).
    • LCD display very hard to read, not enough light or contrast - even after making adjustments
    • Display is not back-lit, so difficult to see in low-light conditions.2
    • Display became distorted after a short time, couldn't read caller ID.
    • Now this one, less than one year old, has also lost its display.
    • Phone does not have back lit display, the display is damaaged in pixilation and mostly unreadable
    • I intended this phone to be wall-mounted in a low-light area, and the display is almost impossible to read in that area
    • These phones are total waste of money, bad display, can not see to programdo not waste your money on this phone
    • One day the circuit board died, there was no display
    • This phone worked great with great features until the display started to lose letters and numbers
    • The display is not illuminated and in fact is difficult to read.
    • It has a nice digital display
    • Has large number buttons, a clear display screen, and programmable directory
    • I don't have that problem now, because the main feature I used was the display/caller ID, and the display stopped working after about a year or two.
    • The display began to fail
    • We've had no problems viewing the display, and the price is a deal.
    • I bought two identical phones in January 2013.After 5 months of use, the caller-id display has failed on both
    • I slammed down the phone handset on one and broke the display.
    • In addition, the old unit's display had died several years ago, but since it was hard to read where we had located it, it didn't matter.
    • But when replacing with fresh batteries, display stays dead; and now no buttons work, even the regular numbers to make a call (yes have put in the batteries the right way).
    • The display is of poor quality and tough to read.
    • This phone worked well, except the display could not be read without room light.
    • Unfortunately, if the call originates from outside the five programmed area codes, the number shows up as 12-121234567.Here’s another hint
    • People say, they can't hear us as well as when using our other phones.
    • Worked as it should.
    • THe directions for setting up the phone are not easy to follow and volume is not as loud as I would like.
